The Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Models found 20 Lates checked in and all 20 of them were on the line up for the 30 lap feature event. After a rough night on Friday night at the Mt Pleasant Speedway which saw the 6R of Carl Ries very torn up it appeared that the Blanchard native had something to prove and prove it he did with a very convincing feature win. Matt Pickard who finished second was all over Ries for the final 10 laps of the race but Ries just hit his marks lap after lap and was able to force Pickard to accept second place. Mickey Carman Jr was able to hold on to third while Mark Andersen finished 4th and Roger Wing came home in the 5th position.
The Kentucky Fried Chicken late models were next up on Saturday night and with the track tacky fast Roger Wing showed why he is a member of the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame as he patiently waited to pick up the checkered flag in this 30 lap feature event.
Joshua Knoll jumped out front in the opening laps of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Model feature but it was Jeff Kohn flying up from mid pack that caught the eye the fans. A series of quick cautions slowed the early action but it didn’t take long before Kohn was making a charge toward the front and finally made the pass for the lead on the high side coming out of two. Knoll was able to keep Kohn in his sights but was never able to reel him in as Kohn took the checkers over Knoll, Matt Pickard, Mike Nugent, Mickey Carmen Jr., Kyle Borgman, Mark Andersen, Keith Gentz, Roger Wing, and Tom Dusen.
