History is an odd thing… and so is destiny.

July 21, 2004, Kesha Griffin, 14 year old daughter of Pro Truck driver Bob Griffin, was killed in a tragic car accident. Every year since, Bob has run a self sponsored special where his family gives money to a division payout in honor of Kesha. She was a huge race fan and supporter of the Street Stocks in particular. In the seven special events prior to this year, Bob has managed to win several of these races, much to the approval of an appreciative fan base.
Last year on July 21st, another 14 year old race fan, Brandon Rummer, was killed while riding his bike. Bob added Brandon to his memorial of Kesha this year. He started fourth in the Engine Pro Pro Truck feature, a division that has been dominated in points by three other drivers: Ashlee Scott, Dave Peters, and Tim Wood. With the drop of the green, Griffin quickly motored to the lead with only Gaven Parks within reach. He opened up a sizeable lead but that evaporated during a caution.
Once back to racing, Griffin pulled away with Parks riding shotgun on his tail while the rest of the field battled for position. With the
white flag in the air, Parks mounted one last charge but nothing was
to stop destiny as Griffin pocketed his second consecutive “The Sky is the Limit” race. Parks came home second, followed by Wood, Peters, Mike Seaman, Scott, Ryan Paradise, Tim Sooy, Chris DeCamp, and Don Prout. Griffin and Prout also won heats. The points leaders are Scott, Peters, and Wood.
