Stuart Brubaker jumped out front within a few laps and despite a couple challenges, he was never headed. Brett Mann and Gary Fast finished out the top three.
Doug McKeown Sr had the lead early in the Port City Pro Stock feature but slid high in turn two, handing the lead over to Derek Schestag with McKeown sliding back to third. Ryan Kent and Reb Marble moved into the top five and were soon joined by Gary Buskirk and Mike Husted. Schestag found the clean air to his liking and he went on to claim his first feature win of the season, followed by Buskirk, Husted, Chaney Newland, and Kent. Schestag and Marble grabbed heat wins.
Andrew Fidler, Richard Melton, Bob Griffin, and David Dancer made up the front pack in the Engine Pro Pro Truck feature. Carl Thayer made his way to third with Ashlee Scott following him to fourth. Scott Nieman rode the rails and began to dual with Thayer for the lead when Thayer got loose and brought out the caution after several laps of perilously close racing. Once the green fell, Nieman jumped out front again and went on to win over Dancer, Griffin, Scott, and Dave Peters. Dancer and Thayer snagged heat wins.
The Engine Pro IMCA Modified feature event was a barn burner that found Chad Precord, Jimmy Hale Jr, and Jason Borton out front. Hale fought for the lead several times but Precord was not giving it up. Myron DeYoung moved to third about the same time Hale took the lead Precord gained it back a lap later. With laps winding down, last years champ began his challenge and with just moments left in the race, Ward took the lead and the win over Precord, DeYoung, Jerry Hunt, and Bob Hutson. Mike Shanteau took the B Main with heats falling to Borton, Hale, and DeYoung.
The Smokers Club of Mt. Pleasant Street Stocks got started with Bill Wilkins, Doug Helsel, and Tim Buskirk jumping well out in front of the pack. Kyle Prochazka, Mike VanderMark Jr, and Will Stanley moved up in the second pack of cars all fighting to hold the fourth position. Helsel pushed the leader hard but when it was over, Wilkins scored his first win of the season over Helsel, Prochazka, Stanley, and VanderMark. J.R. Schmid and Wilkins posed for heat wins.
Austin Bean led the opening laps of the Races On The Web Flinn Stock division with Taylor Daniels and Alex Richards tight behind. Daniels slowed allowing Zach Rummer and Garrett Wiles to move up. Wiles went on to score the win over Richards, Rummer, Taylor Wiles, Chris DeCamp, Scott Glidden, Matt Daggett, Jaycee Baker, Neil Zeigler, Bobby Reed, Daniels, and Felicia Rohn. Daniels and Bean won heats.
Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway is the always popular “Yes2Kids Night” where kids can ride with one of their favorite drivers. This event is held from 6PM to 7PM so get there early! Adult admission is $10 and kids 5-11 are $4. Pit gates open at 4:30 and grandstand gates open at 5PM. Race fans will want to consider the Thursday night race at the Ionia Fairgrounds big half mile track. The race starts at 7PM and features the SOD Sprints and the Engine Pro IMCA Modifieds.
