| It takes time to put together a weekly magazine - regardless of the fact it is printed on paper or posted electronically. Saturday night track results are usually fully updated by Monday afternoon. Special features, such as weekend events on Sunday or a Monday holiday will be available on the following Wednesday. |

Doug Mull Remembered
Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway was a perfect night to kick off the 2007 season and the fan turnout couldn’t have been better. The event was sponsored by Michigan One Credit Union with offices in Ionia and Carson City. About 132 cars made the trek to the three eights oval and they put on a splendid show.
The evening’s activities started with a remembrance for Doug Mull, a long time racer at the track who recently passed away. Rusty Seaver helped in the tribute by giving a memorial ride around the track to some of the family members.

Pro Stock Duels Continue From Last Season
The Pro Stock division was up first and what appears to be a season long duel between two strong racers got underway
right from the git. Rich Buerge held the lead for the first few laps until Chaney Newland got under him and began to
pull away from the pack. With about ten laps to go, both Vern Buskirk and Jeff Reist began to challenge Newland for
the top spot. Newland held tight until about four to go when Buskirk over took him, with Reist following along with
him. Newland began to come back but Buskirk remained strong and held on for the win. Reist was second, followed by
Newland, Dick Reynolds Dean Guiles, Barry Rinard, Matthew Sullivan, Pete Hundey, Pat Dent, and Buerge.
Kevin Rohn
scored the B Main with heats falling to Cal Castle, Jim Russell, and Reynolds.

The Late Model affair was a sort of a walk down memory lane as Rick Stout found his way around Dona Marcoullier in the
early going and the two set a vicious pace. Stout displayed his prior championship form as he stayed low on the track,
keeping Marcoullier at bay. Behind the two front runners, Bill Trueblood, Jr., Zack Olger and Scott Baker had their own
duel going, keeping the crowd well involved. They ended up in that order with Dean Huizenga, Rusty Seaver, Brian
Nickerson, Curtis Roberts, and Scott Haney completing the top ten of a big pack of Late Models.
Paul Tucker and Carl Reis
brought home B Main wins while Olger, Baker, and Roberts posed for heat wins.

The newest division at the speedway is the Flinn Stock class, a four cylinder car with only basic safety equipment added.
The class started slowly last year but ended up with a regular group of 22 to 25 drivers. This season, ten drivers were
ready to go on opening night and once again, they had the giant crowd on their feet for most of the race. Cody Ordway
brought home the win after a tough fight with Jacob Raby but it was a spectacular crash by Dakotah Lytle with just three
laps left to go that was the buzz of the evening. Lytle blew a right front tire just as he came into the apex of turns
three and four, causing his car to make a 90 degree right hand turn, launching him off the back stretch like a rocket. He
barrel rolled about three times before coming to a stop on his roof. The young Saranac driver was unhurt, a testimony to
the safety of the division. Larry Bulson brought home third, followed by Tyler Brillhart, Marty Bordash, Lytle, Anthony
Fellows, Kent Strong, and Gavin Parks.
Strong racked up the heat win.

Many Challenge - Wiggins Prevails!
The IMCA Modifieds, sponsored by Engine Pro, was another packed house feature. Chris Wiggins grabbed the lead early but
was soon hounded by Joe Fowler, Jimmy Hale Jr, and Brennan Bowen. Late in the event, Hale and Fowler touched, sending
Fowler off turn two and Hale to the back of the pack as the caution came out. Wiggins held on to win over Fowler, Bowen,
Gary VanderMark, Chad Wernette, Chad Burke, Chad Maurer, Oscar Rulapaugh, Jr., Hale, Jr., and Rusty Zeigler.
Buzz Lawrence
and Milt Montgomery grabbed B Main wins and Wiggins, Randy Ruesink, Hale, and Fowler all chalked up their first heat wins
of the year.

Tim Wood went out in search of renewing his championship 2006 season but came up just short of pocketing the first race
of the year as Aaron Raby got out front early and was never headed. Raby was flying low as Wood worked his way forward
and the young driver was able to hold him off in a well run race. Jamie McCormick, Jeramie Raby, Rodney Heikkila,
Jerry Koons, Chris Busbee, Charles Perry, Shane Spencer and Jacob Headley made up the top ten.
McCormack also took home the heat win.

Last season, Mike VanderMark had a feast or famine season in the Hobby Stocks. He was either red hot or falling off the
pace due to mechanical problems. VanderMark vowed this season would be different and he wasted no time Saturday proving
he meant business. J.R. Schmid had the top spot early but began to fall back as his machine appeared to overheat.
Vandermark had worked his way to second and assumed the point when Schmid fell off the pace. In typical division
fireworks, every spot was heavily contested and nothing was for certain until the checkers fell. Gary Buskirk shadowed
VanderMark most of the race and brought home a second followed by Rob Adamczyk, Ryan Kent, Derrick Dennis, James Sagryn,
Scott Crook, Thomas Stevens, Dan Minikey Jr., and Lloyd Long.
VanderMark and Minikey brought home heat gold.
