It takes time to put together a weekly magazine - regardless of the fact it is printed on paper or posted electronically. Saturday night track results are usually fully updated by Monday afternoon. Special features, such as weekend events on Sunday or a Monday holiday will be available on the following Wednesday.

Weekly News & Action Photos

Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway is a busy week for staff, drivers, and fans. Wednesday is the fourth of the six Lions Club races, beginning at 7PM. Saturday kicks off the first of two holiday events. A regular show of all six normal divisions plus another growing fan favorite, a reverse race is on tap for the evening. Gates open at 5PM with racing at 7:30PM. Grandstand admission for Saturday is $10 for adults, $4 for kids 5-11 and pit passes are $25.

The second holiday race is TUESDAY, July 3rd and features all of the normal events plus fireworks and is sponsored by Engine Pro. Adult grandstand admission will be $12 and kids 5-11 are $4. Pit passes remain at $25 for all ages. This event starts at 7:30PM as well. Crystal Motor Speedway has lots of free primitive camping available and is close to stores, restaurants, and the beach. Can't make it to the races? Listen on StreamNet Radio.com for live coverage of the events. Further information about these events may be obtained by calling the track at (989) 235-5200 or visit the website.

We are gaining experience with the StreamNet webcast of the races and can now offer our advertisers 30, 60, and 90 second spots at a very reasonable price. There is a small set up fee, and the per price cost is as little as $5 each week. Each spot includes a graphic link here on the CMS site and on the StreamNet player window.

Michigan Auto Race Fan Club Night

June 23 Results

It was MARFC night at CMS Saturday night sponsored by Lawnscape Inc. and the fans saw some great racing. The Michigan Legends were on hand with one of only two dirt track appearances and they were impressive! Feature winner, Ronnie Danstan, came from deep in the field to win. Frank Jiovani ended a fine run for second on the 29th lap when he suffered a mechanical problem.

FEATURE WINNER - Cody Ordway

This class always holds a lot of excitement and has proven to be a fan favorite since its inception last year at the track. Cody Ordway scored another win in the beginner's division after a long fight with Nick Messner and Kent Strong. Tyler Brillhart brought home fourth, followed by Kyle Shattuck, Gavin Parks, Corey Holtzlander, Anthony Fellows, Kenneth Ditner, and Larry Bulson.

Missile Fires Again -
Melvin Allen Quickly Leaves Field Behind

FEATURE WINNER - Melvin Allen

Melvin Allen made the most of his front row start in the Engine Pro IMCA Modified race as he jumped out to the lead and never looked back. Jim Hale Jr and Brad Roberts were hot on his trail but were never quite able to reel in the leader. Point's leader Joe Fowler made one lap and blew a motor going down the backstretch to end his night early. Roberts bagged the second spot, followed by Hale, Jerry Pace, Chad Maurer, Myron DeYoung, Greg Wiles, Brennan Bowen, Carl Thayer, and Gary VanderMark.

DeYoung and Don Proctor Jr took B Main wins with Roberts, Allen, and Bruce Lewis taking heat events.

FEATURE WINNER - Zach Olger

Jay Van Dyke lead the opening laps of the Late Model feature before giving way to Chris Rinard. Rinard was running nicely but that lead melted when Zach Olger made his way through the field and took over not only the lead but the race. Olger was able to run all three lanes of the track as he danced around lapped cars. The only car able to stay close was Ryan Vanderveen who has made considerable progress with his car the past couple races. Vanderveen was a few lengths behind but never had the chance to make a serious charge against the high flying Olger. Battles for position raged behind the leader but Olger was oblivious to it all as he racked up his third feature win in 2007.

Vanderveen capped a great run with second, followed by Van Dyke, Rusty Seaver, Rinard, Paul Tucker, Jim Fairbanks, Rick Stout, Mark Andersen, and Scott Baker.

Olger and Rinard took heat gold.

Zach Olger took the B Main and also scored a heat win as did Curt Mesman and Cogswell.

FEATURE WINNER - Jerry Koons

The Pro Truck race was a real battle between Jerry Koons and Scott Neiman that went right down to the last pair of laps before they made contact and spun, leaving Neiman to the back and Koons to fend off Tim Wood and David Verhaar in a last lap shootout. Koons was up to the task and made his first 2007 visit to the winners circle. Neiman and Koons had run within inches of each other most of the race and with the white flag about to fly, Neiman pitched into turn three just a tad too hard and made contact with Koons, spinning them both. The event was well run both racers and had the crowd buzzing and cheering.

Koons also scored the heat win.

FEATURE WINNER - Mike Vandermark

The Street Stocks saw a variation of an old tune as Mike Vandermark came from dead last to the win. Danna Rohn lead much of the race and put up a tremendous fight to keep the lead as Vandermark made his challenge. Vandermark slipped around her and found nothing but the clean night air in front of him. Mickey Carman Jr made a last minute attempt at the leader but Vandermark cruised on into Victory Lane.

Carman was second followed by JR Schmid, Larry Kosloski, Al Kiester, Rohn, Ryan Kent, Bryan Craigmyle, Lloyd Long, and Kevin Dard.

Kosloski and Vandermark took heat wins.
