It takes time to put together a weekly magazine - regardless of the fact it is printed on paper or posted electronically. Saturday night track results are usually fully updated by Monday afternoon. Special features, such as weekend events on Sunday or a Monday holiday will be available on the following Wednesday.

Weekly News & Action Photos

Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway, the Sprints On Dirt invade the track as they hold their Mid Season Championship on the Crystal clay. The Late Models will have the night off to make room for the SOD Sprints. Adult grandstand admission is $12 and kids 5-11 are $4. Pit passes are $25. Gates open at 5PM with racing at 7:30. For further information, call the track office at (989) 235-5200.

The Lions Club Benefit series wraps up this Wednesday night... be sure to come out and support the racers and the club and congratulate them for another great summer series of mid-week racing.

Can't make it to the races? Listen on StreamNet Radio.com for live coverage of the events. Further information about these events may be obtained by calling the track at (989) 235-5200 or visit the website.

We are gaining experience with the StreamNet webcast of the races and can now offer our advertisers 30, 60, and 90 second spots at a very reasonable price. There is a small set up fee, and the per price cost is as little as $5 each week. Each spot includes a graphic link here on the CMS site and on the StreamNet player window.

Postmasters Run It Up The Flagpole!

July 14 Results

It was an unusually chilly July night at Crystal Motor Speedway Saturday night but the fans didn't seem to mind. The evening was sponsored by Family Electronics of downtown Alma and one of the events the fans always enjoy was the 'flag pole' race. This race involved local postmasters racing around the track and implement tires strategically placed to cause the most excitement. Jason Galloway won the event to the cheers on the crowd.

FEATURE WINNER - Cody Ordway

The Flinn Stock feature got off to a rough start as Terri Hale got sideways and rolled once, collecting up Harley Farkle as he braked to avoid the accident. Neither driver was injured but both were done for the night.

Rich Stearns led the field for several laps before giving way to Cody Ordway. Joe Nieman was hot in the race for the lead but got sideways and was collected up by Nick Messner, eliminating him from the chase.

Ordway went on to take the win, followed by Larry Bulson, Stearns, Kyle Shattuck, Gavin Parks, Messner, Kent Strong, Jordan Sattler, Travis Corder, and Corey Holtzlander.

Messner and Nieman took heat wins.

Putt 'Drains It' -
Holds Off Hard Chargers For First Ever Feature Win

FEATURE WINNER - Robert Putt

The Engine Pro IMCA Modifieds kicked off the feature events of the normal divisions and Robert Putt jumped out to a quick lead. Nate Jones came flying up through the field and was quickly tight on the bumper of Putt but he was unable to pull along side the leader. Josh Borton and Carl Thayer began to move closer to the lead pack, joined by Jim Hale Jr from much deeper in the field. With two laps left, Putt still held sway with Jones and Hale hard on his bumper. Coming in for the last lap, Jones and Hale drove into turn one a bit too hard and out of the race for the win. Putt held tight as he took his very first feature win ever, followed by Borton, Joe Fowler, Myron DeYoung, Hale, Greg Wiles, Chad Wernette, Don Proctor, Jr., Thayer, and Chad Maurer.

B Main wins went to Fowler and DeYoung while heats fell to Putt, Thayer, and Brad Stanke.

FEATURE WINNER - Jay VanDyke

The Late Models were next and before they completed a half straight away, there was trouble. Rusty Seaver took the brunt on the scuffle as he was unable to continue. Also involved were Ryan Vanderveen and Rick Stout but they were able to continue. Once back to green flag racing, Jay Van Dyke took up the point followed by Keith Gentz Scott Baker and Carl Ries. Van Dyke has been blazing fast the past couple weeks but had been plagued with mechanical problems but this night, the problems stayed at bay.

The big battle was Van Dyke as Baker, Zach Olger and Paul Tucker slugged it out for position behind the leader. When the checker fell, it was Van Dyke, Baker, Tucker, Brian Nickerson, Olger, Keith Gentz, Scott Ehlert, Jim Emmons, Brandon Thirlby, and Neil Siefker.

Nickerson won the B Main while Stout and Gentz took heats.

Rohn Cruises To Win
Others Fight Over Second Place

FEATURE WINNER - Kevin Rohn

The Pro Stock feature turned out to be a battle of veteran drivers. Terry LeClear held the early going but soon gave way to Kevin Rohn. Rohn wasted no time in opening a comfortable lead as the rest of the field fought behind him. Barry Rinard and Mike Corder soon were at the front as they battled for second. Vern Buskirk joined the front pack as well but repeated attempts to run the bottom groove failed and he began to work the higher side.

Jeff Reist, Chaney Newland, and Todd Bush all jumped in as the battle continued. Mean while, Rohn cruised forward and went on to win over Corder, Rinard, Reist, Buskirk, Newland, Bush, Rich Buerge, LaClear, and Mike Husted.

Corder and Buskirk claimed heat wins.

Wood moved to second and began to reel the leader in as the laps wound down.

Perry developed mechanical problems and fell off the pace with two laps to go. Wood gave it one last shot but was unable to stop Nieman from collecting his second feature win of 2007. Wood was followed by Crawford, McCormick, Aaron Raby, Gary Dancer, Heikkila, and Perry.
