Bowen Stays With It -
Gets First Win of '07
The Engine Pro IMCA Modifieds were next and Paul Grosnickle took
command early. Grosnickle fended off repeated charges from Toby Steele
and Cliff Denman early before bobbling as he went into the first set
of turns, allowing Chad Wernette and Randy Ruesink to join Denman and
Brennan Bowen to the top positions.
Bowen has been close in several
features but has fallen off with mechanical problems but with about
five to go, he took the lead and began to pull away. Joe Fowler, Myron
DeYoung, and Denman battled for position as Bowen settled into a
rhythm. Denman made a late charge at Bowen but settled for second as
Bowen took his first Modified feature of 2007. Fowler was third,
followed by DeYoung, Dan Wiggins II, Josh Borton, Randy Ruesink, John
McClure, Grosnickle, and Gary VanderMark.

Take Lead From Mandoka Late In Race
Cal Castle and Greg Mandoka have been on a good set of runs as of late
and Saturday was no exception. They grabbed the early lead and battled
each other for a number of laps before Castle bobbled momentarily,
allowing Mandoka to the front where he opened a commanding lead. Mike
Corder, Vern Buskirk, and Chaney Newland were in hot pursuit but
Mandoka held tight.
With four to go, Jeff Reist, coming from 18th
position, began to make his presence known and he slipped under
Mandoka to take the point. Mandoka pushed his machine to retake the
lead but Reist held firm, bagging his fourth feature of the 2007
season. Mandoka finished second, followed by Buskirk, Newland, Corder,
Castle, Roger Stewart, Barry Rinard, Pete Hundey, and Richard Buerge.
Terry LaClear snagged the B feature with Castle, Corder, and Bob
Griffin taking heats.

away but Mike Vandermark, coming from 12th position had made his way
forward. Vandermark soon began to pressure Schmidt for the lead but
the leader wasn't about to roll over.
They ran door to door for
several laps before Schmidt's engine let go as they went down the back
stretch. After a brief caution for clean up, Vandermark took the green
again as the leader while Kent and Minikey raced for second.

besting Kent for second. Corey Ruesink was next, followed by Bryan
